The Match takes its material cues from classic mountaineering boots, which traditionally paired leather collars with suede uppers. That contrast of textures carries through to the shoe, with Mephisto’s iconic Desert Mamouth leather reinforcing the heel counter, an area particularly susceptible to friction and wear, while rugged roughout leather covers the remainder of the upper. The model’s signature D-ring speed-lacing system further underscores the connection to traditional hiking footwear, bringing a functional mountaineering detail to a silhouette long established on city streets. Four pairs of laces offer a range of looks, from three hiking-inspired options featuring ticks to a flat brown lace that lends the silhouette a more refined feel.
