Making History Again with G.H. Bass & Co. As we celebrate the Weejuns 80th Anniversary – the loafer is making a big comeback. The first loafer was made in 1936 by George Henry Bass of Wilton, Maine. They were named Weejuns after a Norwegian slipper-type moccasin used for “loafing in the field.”
